The Pennsylvania Waste Industries Association (PWIA) and the Pennsylvania Recycling Markets Center (RMC) are joint sponsors of the PA Recycling Industries Congress, which has been held since 2011.
This year’s event celebrates more than 28 years of curbside recycling in Pennsylvania under Act 101, the state’s recycling law that has made it possible for most of the state’s population to gain access to recycling from their residences. Efforts of PWIA and the RMC have helped stimulate the growth of recycling as a major private-sector enterprise that makes a significant contribution to Pennsylvania’s economy.
About PWIA and RMC
PWIA represents private-sector waste haulers, recyclers and landfill operators and is the state chapter of the National Waste & Recycling Association. The nonprofit RMC supports research and development of new recycling technologies and works with manufacturers to encourage use of recycled materials in their operations and product lines.
